The Guqin [ 古琴, 古称琴、瑶琴、玉琴,现称古琴、七弦琴 ] is an ancient seven string zither native to China that has the capacity to not only stir the heart, but also to touch the soul. Since ancient times, learned men and gifted women have studied and treasured the profound melodies of the guqin. We endeavour to continue this honoured tradition through scholarly research with dedicated simplicity.
The Pacific Gu Qin Association is based in California’s San Francisco, sister city to Shanghai. The Mayor of San Francisco has given endorsement of the Guqin with a Proclamation that November 7th be Gu Qin day. As such, we are always happy to be engaged in cultural and educational activities.
We hold a “yaji,” a meeting, every other month and invite all who have an interest in the guqin and its culture.
